The Amulet of Secrets Quest in "World of Warcraft"
- Player characters in Wold of Warcraft gain treasure, items and experience points primarily by completing quests that are given to them by computer controlled non-player characters. A player typically receives a quest by talking to a non-playing character, then completes the quest by completing one or a series of tasks given to them by the aforementioned non-player character. Quests can range from simple "fetch quests" (collecting 10 animal pelts, for instance) to more complicated quests that involve complex story lines.
- The Amulet of Secrets quest is given to the player character by a non-player character named Hammertoe. The quest is to retrieve his amulet, the Amulet of Secrets, and return it to him in the city of Uldaman. When first speaking to Hammertoe, he comments on the fact that you are brave enough to look for him in Uldaman, then he tells you that if you are really there to help, you will find and return his amulet.
- To complete the quest, the player needs to go into the ruins near the city of Uldaman and retrieve the Amulet of Secrets from Magregan Deepshadow. The player is told by Hammertoe that if Deepshadow is allowed to retain possession of the Amulet of Secrets, it will lead his army, the Dark Irons, to a set of scrolls that will allow him to create a battalion of powerful golems.
- Upon returning the Amulet of Secrets, Hammertoe will tell the player that he knew that he could find the amulet, and he will congratulate him on a job well done. The player will receive 4,370 experience points, and will gain 250 points of reputation with the city of Ironforge. If the player has reached the maximum level of experience allowed by the game, he will receive 19 silver and 20 copper pieces instead of the experience points. As of July 2011, this quest has been deemed obsolete by Blizzard Entertainment and, therefore, can be neither obtained nor completed.
