How to Make a Tea Tree Oil Mouth Rinse

104 34
    • 1). Rinse out a used container that has a lid, with hot water and wash it out with a drop of dish detergent. Dry the container and the lid with a paper towel. The container you put your homemade tea tree oil mouth rinse in needs to be as clean as possible.

    • 2). Pour 3 cups of water into a cooking pot and heat it to a rolling boil with a lid. Boil the water for 10 minutes to sterilize the water. Some of the water will evaporate, which is why you need more water than you actually need for the mouth rinse recipe. Remove the water from the heat and wait 30 minutes for it to cool or check it with a thermometer.

    • 3). Pour a 2 cups warm, boiled water into the clean container. Add 8 drops of tea tree oil to the water, 1 tsp. myrrh tincture and six drops peppermint oil to add a pleasant flavor and scent. You can also skip the myrrh tincture if you can't get any, and you can add some 1/2 tsp. stevia powder to sweeten the mouth rinse.

    • 4). Put the lid tightly on the container and shake to mix the ingredients. Put the mixture in the refrigerator to keep it fresh. The mixture will stay fresh for two weeks, but in this amount of time you should be able to use it up if you rinse your mouth with it every day.
