Home Remedy Conditioner Treatments for Curly Hair
- Honey is known to bring moisture to dry, curly hair. Warm up a half cup of honey in the microwave and stir in two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil. Massage the mixture into your hair, starting at the scalp and working toward the ends. Cover your hair with a shower cap. After half an hour, wash your hair with a non-sulfate shampoo. Keep in mind that honey can lighten the color of your hair; to prevent this, it must be warmed before application.
- Oils will help to condition your hair and fight frizzy curls. In a glass jar, heat up one cup of either coconut oil or olive oil. Evenly apply the oil throughout your hair. Pull on a shower cap, or wrap a hot towel around your hair and head to increase how much oil is absorbed and how much moisture your hair receives. Leave the oil on your hair for half an hour. When the towel cools down, you can rewarm it. Then shampoo your strands, rinsing with cold water. This can be done up to three times per week.
- Deep conditioners work to protect the outer layer of your hair, increasing shine. Mash up one whole avocado with one tablespoon of olive oil. Add one teaspoon of baking powder, and mix until all three ingredients are combined. Apply the mixture to your hair, and leave it on for 15 minutes before washing out. Apply this deep conditioner weekly. If you sun tan or swim often, you can deep condition your hair twice per week.
- Changing or altering your diet can also improve your curly hair. Drinking plenty of water will keep your body hydrated and your hair moisturized. Fish oils, whether you get them from eating fish or taking capsules, also work to keep both your hair and skin moisturized.
