Green Smoothies: A Process of Elimination

Let's get right to the point. Green smoothies are the mastermind in creating regular bowel movements. All right, there I've said it. I know it's not dinnertime conversation however in the interests of good health, it needs to be addressed.

I have noticed a definite increase my need to use the facilities more frequently and with less side affects. I have no more uncomfortable or bloated feelings in my stomach. It's great to know the fibre in the smoothies is removing the toxins from my body fast and efficiently.

As long as I drink my daily smoothies and eat the right kind of foods I feel great. If I indulge in fried or carbohydrate loaded foods such as breads, pastas and rice, I really notice a change in my elimination process (the polite term!) This seems to cause my system to respond sluggishly and creates feeling of heaviness. The smoothies definitely reduce my cravings for unhealthy food; so drinking them has been well worth it.

I do struggle with ice cream, which sneaks up on me from time to time. I can eat half a tub in one sitting - it's a big tub. I don't keep it in the house anymore for that very reason. I love my food and like all things in life, moderation is the key!

Keeping the fibre in your drinks is certainly a great way to detox your body. It causes the stools to be bulker and easier to pass. Removing this waste from your body will have a dramatic effect on your health. Having a cleaner, more efficient system is certainly a great feeling. The effects on energy, skin, nails, hair and moods are also very noticeable. It is great to have people tell you how well your looking. I tell them my secret; it's green smoothies. It's that simple.

Some people seem a little bemused at the concept. I know the thought of drinking a bunch of spinach may seem a little strange and I agree. It initially took a few days for my body to begin to crave the greens. Once it kicks in, there's no going back. Quite frankly, why would you want to?

It has morphed in further changes such as increasing the amount of raw foods into my diet. I started to drink green smoothies in spring and adding more salads was certainly an easy process in the warmer weather. It will be interesting to see how the raw component of my diet will change when the weather gets colder.

To help support my green smoothie revolution, my husband and I started a garden on our balcony. We have been growing a range of herbs and greens to add to our daily smoothies and the rest we use for salads. I don't think I've ever had freshly cut salad until now and I have to say it tastes amazing. I highly recommend it.

For better health add one green smoothie a day to your diet. Your body will thank you for it and you will begin to notice changes from the start. I add this to my diet; I never use green smoothies as a meal replacement. It is always in addition to my meals. I challenge you to drink green smoothies each day for two weeks to see the difference for yourself. You will be craving them before the end of the challenge and on your way to great health. It's easy to achieve wellness when you feed your body with good food.
