The tall man translates for the Japanese man at the Temple who seems to be in charge. He seems surprised that the Japanese man wants them to shoot the visitors, but gives the order anyway.
He seems surprised that the spring is not clear and is also surprised to hear that Jacob is dead. - Episode 6x3, What Kate Does
The tall man continues to translate for Dogen. He seems surprised when Dogen tells him that Jack swallowed the pill.

Dogen tells the tall man to get Shephard and Reyes, but he says that they can't find them and Dogen tells him to look harder. The tall man takes Claire to a hole inside the Temple.
The tall man sees Kate and asks where Ford and Kwon are, but Kate puts her arm across his throat and pushes him up against the wall, asking where Claire is. He takes her to Claire, but takes Kate away after two minutes.
Later, he goes into the room with the spring and sees that Sayid has killed Dogen. He says that Dogen was the only thing keeping "it" out. They hear sounds of the monster and then Sayid stabs the tall man and dumps him into the spring.
