How to Clean a Porcelain Enamel Stove Top
- 1). Combine the hot water and soap in your bowl. Make sure you mix it well so the soap does not settle to the bottom. You want to get it as sudsy and bubbly as possible so the lather can break up the spilled oil or grease. If you have light-colored porcelain enamel, be sure not to use a colored cleaning solution. The porcelain will then take on the color of the solution if you do not remove it quickly. Test the solution on a small spot first to see if it stains the porcelain.
- 2). Soak the cloth or paper towels in the mixture. Pouring it onto the spots is less effective since it will only run and drip. The soaked towel allows you to apply the mixture to the area of concentration.
- 3). Place the cloth or towels over the spots, drips and stains. Let the towels sit for a couple minutes so the mixture can soak into the stain, but only if the stain has been there for a while and has hardened.
- 4). Wipe the spill or stain away with the wet cloth. You should notice how easily the surface comes clean.
- 5). Dry the surface with a spare cloth or paper towel, and the cleaning is complete.
