Rules for ASA Softball
- Starting in 2009, the furthest the outfield fence can be from home plate is 325 feet. This was done in order to add more defense to games.
- Any bat that has the most minor dings, dents or cracks shall be removed from the game. No longer shall the "bat ring" rule apply.
- Any person who uses metal cleats shall be ejected immediately. This rule was enacted to protect the players on the field from being injured by sharpened spikes.
- All classes of ASA softball now have a home run limit. Should one team reach this limit, the game will be called and that team will be claimed the winner.
- If a game has not reached the seventh inning by the 50-minute mark, the game will immediately be called except in the event of a tied score. If the score is tied, the game will continue until one team scores.
