How to Figure Out How Much Siding Covers
- 1). Measure the length and width, in inches, of a piece of siding (sheet, panel, etc.), using the tape measure. Measuring in inches will make the rest of the process easier.
- 2). Multiply the length of the siding by its width (using a calculator, if needed), in inches, to calculate the total surface area of the siding piece in square inches.
- 3). Divide the total area of the siding piece in square inches by 144 (using a calculator, if needed) to convert the measurement to area in square feet (the unit of measurement most commonly used in the siding and construction industry).
