How to Change a Subdomain

    • 1). First log on to the website of your hosting provider. This is where you can access the settings for your domain. Look for a field or tab that says subdomain. This is usually located in the same place as the main domain name. Delete the old subdomain from the field and replace it with the new subdomain name.

    • 2). If you don't see a field that says "subdomain", contact your hosting provider. Although changing subdomains is very easy, some hosting providers prefer to have their technical support representative perform the task. If this is the case, tell them the name of the old subdomain and the name of the new subdomain.

    • 3). If you have access to the actual website files (through FTP), then you can simply rename the subdomain yourself. You can do this by opening an FTP connection, and navigating to the root folder of your main domain. Inside the main domain there will be folders with a slash in front of them. These folders are the subdomains. You can simply rename the folders to reflect the new subdomain that you want.
