Do You Actually Think That You Think?

103 14
It is the general apothegm; Simple questions have complex answers and complex question have simple answers.
How we have to react when we are in love lies in the first category.
My question 'do we actually think?" lies in the second category.
The answer to my question is, we generally think what we are made to think.
It can be done by our history books, family atmosphere, society around us, newspapers and T.
V.
channels and even the sources of entertainment like cinema to soccer.
Now, the question is why we don't think.
Three main pillars of thinking is rational mind, discussion and questioning.
All the three are inter related to each other.
Now let us discuss all one by one.
Do we have rational thinking to discern? Probably not.
Firstly, we generally associate our self with prejudices and dogmas.
For eg.
we follow our religion and admire it.
It is not because we have analysed with substantial facts but as we are born in it, we have prejudices and affliction for it.
Secondly, experience of others (revered) person can be a hindrance to experiment and formulate our own theories.
A common example is, a man who has lost all his money in business will try to convince his son that business is bad.
Thirdly, the fear of failure has been so much exaggerated in our society, that we are afraid to think of our own.
Why else you think that most business magnets are college drop outs- Dhirubhai Ambani, Bill Gates, Steave Jobs, Micheal Dell etc.
are employing the best minds of universities.
They have came of all prejudices, dogmas, and fear of failure.
They have experimented and wrote their own rules.
Second point is discussion; there is no point of discussion if the first requisite condition of rational thinking is not satisfied.
We generally do not have healthy discussion because either we got trapped into the never ending debate or we popped out same points.
That is because we have the habit of taking vicarious pleasure of thinking without actually thinking.
But actually, we are just memorizing the thoughts which are intentionally been rooted in our mind by the society and media.
We eulogize Lalit Modi in IPL 1 and 2 but chastised him in IPL 3, as there is a painted picture of thoughts in our mind by media.
We think that our nation is the greatest nation with greatest army.
All enemy nations like Pakistan and China are betraying us.
That's what we have learned in our history.
Do we know what a Chinese or Pakistanis children learn about India? We never know.
We says that we are the people following 'non-violence' from the history but we afraid to admit that we are also the nation following 'civil-disobedience' from the history.
Lastly when we say questioning, this is prohibited part of thinking.
As George Benard Shaw once said," All greatest truth are once blasphemous.
" If we question the authorities then we can be called traitor or sacrilegious person.
But, questioning do complete our process of thinking.
The irony lies in, if we question the authorities about their working in throng, we can bring justice to Jessica Lal's and Ruchika's murder case.
But if I am alone then I can be Jessica, Ruchika or Safdar Hashmi.
We have two choices: 1.
Be ignorant, think within the frequency allotted by the authorities and take vicarious pleasure 2.
Fight with the ignorance, find wisdom and struggle to find the satisfaction.
This may be the first type; Simple question with difficult answers.
I myself is in dilemma of choosing the road.
