How to Treat Dog Urine on a Wood Floor With Bleach
- 1). Blot away fresh dog urine with paper towels. Continue blotting until no more urine can be absorbed. Discard the paper towels in the trashcan.
- 2). Wipe the area with a cloth saturated with cold water.
- 3). Create a solution of 10 parts cold water and 1 part household bleach.
- 4). Saturate a sponge in the mixture and wring out the excess. Wipe the area with the sponge and dry with a towel.
- 1). Sand the stained area with fine grit sandpaper to remove the wax coating. Wipe the floor with a damp cloth to remove the dust created from sanding.
- 2). Pour mineral spirits into a small container. Saturate a piece of #000 steel wool in the mineral spirits.
- 3). Rub the urine stain lightly with the steel wool. Allow the wood floor to dry completely. If the urine stain is still visible, continue to Step 4.
- 4). Saturate a rag with household bleach. Place the rag directly on top of the urine stain. Leave the rag on the stain for 1 hour.
- 5). Rinse the wood floor with a clean cloth saturated with water. Wipe dry with a towel. You will need to stain, wax and buff the area once the urine stain is gone.
