How to Hide Icon Labels
- 1). Select an icon on your desktop and press "F2" on your keyboard. This will highlight the text.
- 2). Press "Alt" on your keyboard and hold it down. Type the number "255" on your keyboard's numberpad and let go of the "Alt" key. The highlighted text will be replaced with a blank, which will disappear as soon as you deselect the icon. Note that you must use the number pad on your keyboard to enter the "Alt" code. If you try it with the numbers at the top of the keyboard, nothing will happen.
- 3). Repeat the process with the other icons on your desktop, if you so desire. Since Windows does not allow any two icons to have the same name, you have to add an extra blank character to the name of each subsequent icon. The second icon you select will have to be given two Alt-255 sequences, the third three, and so on.
