Crystals & Their Uses
- While every variety of crystal has its own applications, practitioners that use quartz exclusively note that every iteration of quartz crystal has its own unique properties and vibratory energy. Much time and energy can be invested in identifying one's personal crystal. It is important to select a crystal that elicits a strong feeling of desire for it. Once selected, the crystal needs to be cleared or purified, easily effected by leaving it submerged in salt water in moonlight for one night. Once the impurities in the crystal's regular latticework have been removed, it can then be used to focus the practitioner's healing energy. A cleared crystal is used by placing it on or above an area in need of healing and channeling one's positive intentions through it. If the crystal is being used to heal others on a regular basis, it will need to be cleared on a regular basis to remove adventitious negative vibrations.

Amethyst has an affinity to the crown chakra and higher consciousness. It helps open the third eye by connecting it to the integrity of the crown chakra's universal outlook. Amethyst is also popular for its ability to increase psychic abilities. The easiest way to use it is to place it beneath one's pillow. - Citrine protects the aura from negative outside influences, as well as promoting the transmutation of corporeal energy into astral energy. It is particularly effective in balancing the root and crown chakras. Citrine, worn as a pendant at the level of the heart chakra, is most effective.
- Emerald establishes a state of equilibrium between the heart and crown chakras. It promotes a state of mental and emotional serenity, preparing the practitioner for higher spiritual practices. Emerald may be worn as a ring or pendant, but is most effective when channeling the active intention of the practitioner. When using emerald, it is important to make your purchase through a reputable supplier, as there are many counterfeits that lack emerald's unique properties.
