How to Repel Wasps & Bees
- 1). Cover all food items when outdoors. The summer months are popular for outdoor picnics and barbecues when wasps and bees are most active.
- 2). Cover foods high in protein or keep them indoors. Bees are attracted to foods high in protein. Meats should be kept covered if left outdoors.
- 3). Cover foods and beverages high in sugar or keep them indoors. Open soda cans and bottles become popular homes for bees and wasps.
- 4). Move hummingbird feeders away from high-traffic areas. Wasps and bees are attracted to the sweet nectar in the feeders.
- 5). Apply a citrus spray when gardening or outdoors. The spray will repel and keep the wasps and bees at a distance.
- 6). Purchase a wasp trap. Traps are available at most hardware stores. Hang the wasp trap on a tree away from areas where people tend to congregate.
