How to Burn Calories at the Office
When you work 40 hours a week it can be really hard to fit in exercise to your daily routine.
No one wants to spend 8 long hours in front of a computer screen and then head to the gym right away after work.
And while completely eliminating your gym schedule isn't the best idea, you may be able to shorten it with a few adjustments to your workplace activities.
It is entirely possible to have a productive day at work while also burning calories and toning up at the same time.
Check out my list below for some simple yet effective ways to get in shape while at the office.

Take the stairs.
It's so easy to get in the habit of jumping in the elevator or using the escalator on a daily basis, but by doing this you are really missing out on a great opportunity for some extra cardio and muscle toning.
You should always take the stairs, even if you work on the eleventh floor, you should at least take the stairs for part of the trek if you can't make it all the way up.

Get an exercise ball chair.
This great way to tone your stomach with minimal effort.
As you sit on the chair, your stomach muscles have to work harder to maintain your new posture.
You won't even really notice it and it'll also give you better posture which can prevent back and shoulder pain.

Clench your stomach and buttocks muscles.
This sounds strange, but it's an easy way to tone your muscles.
All you need to do tighten your stomach and buttocks muscles while sitting at your desk.
Start out with reps of 30 seconds or so, then release.
Repeat this throughout the day and try to increase the length of time.

Spend your lunch outside.
I'm certainly not encouraging you to skip lunch, but why not pack a healthy snack, rather than going out for a big lunch.
Then spend your lunch walking outside of the office and munching here and there.
A brisk 30 minute walk can burn over 200 calories.
It will also make give you an added boost of energy for the last portion of the day.
It's can seem really hard to stay in shape when you work countless hours a day, but if you're creative with your workout routine it doesn't have to be.
Think outside of the box and try to add exercise into your daily office routine.
You might not be able to rid the gym from your vocabulary, but you'll certainly be able to maintain or aid in your fitness level.
