In this two part article we're looking at how best to survive a divorce and what you can expect to go through and encounter in the process.
Following the first period of shock you'll probably enter a time of adjustment when your mind will be trying to reorganize your life into some kind of context.
In short, you'll want life to make sense again and to feel normal.
There could be many new questions you never though you'd be asking yourself.
Would I like to live somewhere completely different? How will I support myself? Can I meet the child support payments? Life will seem a little surreal for a while but know this, everything becomes normal with time.
You will feel secure again and yes, even happy.
After that first year has passed the 2nd and 3rd should feel a lot more normal.
There may be occasions when you'll feel the sadness again and they can be triggered by any number of little things.
The point is that these occurrences will become less frequent as time goes by which is a good sign.
Fight hard to get your life back, fight hard to reach emotional closure, there are people who live with their divorces like and elephant in the room all their lives - don't let that happen to you.
Life is full of new opportunity, that's the most wonderful thing about it.
It's constantly renewing itself and giving endless second chances so learn how to take them.
Get excited about your life, nothing will help you reach emotional closure faster than finding passion to live and things to look forward to in the future.
Most importantly of all, forgive yourself.
