New Years Resolutions or New Broken Promises
Another year passes and it's a time for new beginnings.
A new start.
You know the feeling.
Going to go on a diet, quit smoking and a whole list of things you can think of.
Here is a resolution that doesn't have to be done over night.
It's the resolution of securing what's your and your family.
Let's begin with just one thing at a time here starting with your house.
Is your house secure and burglar proof? Grab a sheep of paper and pencil and let's begin writing.
Let's look at the windows.
Is it possible someone could get in them without you knowing? Let's put some inexpensive alarms on the window panes themselves so if the glass is broken you'll know and then put the type that detects if the window is being moved up or down.
This second type of alarm can work on your doors as well.
They will sound if the window or door is moved by breaking the connection they make.
If someone opens your doors or windows they will sound loud enough to hear and perhaps loud enough for the neighbors can hear.
Try posting a decal on the windows that read "this house is protected by.
" The alarms and the decal deterrents should be enough for the criminals.
If someone got in your house because you forgot to turn the alarms on would you know it? You could purchase the motion detector alarms that will sound if motion is sensed.
What if someone was at your door trying to get in? You can put a canister of pepper spray with a bracket or have a handy stun gun ready.
No more worrying about someone coming to the door pretending to be a pizza delivery man or some tricks that a home invader might try.
Now your house is protected and you are ready for intruders so now let's look at other ways of self defense.
For your auto you can purchase pepper spray or a stun gun with a clip that mounts to your visor or a pocket in the door itself.
You could also purchase the pepper spray that attaches to your key ring making quick access to it.
The same would work with a stun gun or a personal alarm.
Be sure that you supply the family with these products also to protect them.
All this would be around $200.
00 or less and this protects you all the way around and at the least, alerts you.
You could go with the monitoring services out there.
That would cost a little bit more money and would even be more safe than my previous suggestions.
Allot of people don't want to pay those monthly fees and that's the only reason that I can think of not to go this way.
At least you, your family and your house would be protected.
You could also install a nice 4 or 8 camera monitoring system that would alert you of intruders plus this could be recorded in such events or played back for local authorities.
Now these resolutions wouldn't take to much to keep.
Either way you decide to do it.
This new year of 2011 can be a safer year for you and your family.
This doesn't have to be done all at once but the quicker you get it done the quicker you will begin to feel safer and actually be safer.
My family had a home invasion happen this past year and I wish they would have done some of these things.
I don't know if it would have made any difference but I can logically think that it would've.
The local authorities would have had a copy of this to help to apprehend them so they wouldn't do it to anyone else.
Safety, home security, self defense is an important aspect of life these days.
Just read at the paper or watch the news and see that we cannot just sit around doing nothing.
My first suggestion above would only cost $200.
00 or less.
The monitoring companies might cost you more but still if it will work then why not.
It's worth the security or peace of mind you can have.
