Upsetting someone can cause you a lot of trouble. The same is true when you upset your stomach. An upset stomach or dyspepsia can either be caused by overeating or other serious symptoms such as ulcer. By dealing with those symptoms you can actually manage or avoid having frequent indigestion.

Your eating habits can greatly affect your stomach's condition. Well that one is very obvious so if you want to keep your stomach healthy all the time, you have to learn how to listen to it. What I mean is, observe and take note when and how you usually get an upset stomach and take appropriate actions.

When eating, make sure you don't try to finish your food in a hurry. You are supposed to be eating for fun and pleasure so try to feel the texture of your food by eating slowly and carefully. If you fail to chew your food properly, chances are you will be overexerting your digestive muscles and that can lead to an upset stomach. Research also shows that people who eat in a hurry tend to overeat giving them higher risk for obesity.

If you know that you have weak digestive muscles, stay away from foods that are high in fat. Instead, include more fiber-rich foods in your diet like cereals, fruits and green leafy veggies. Fiber makes stool easier to pass through your system preventing the risk for constipation. They also have a water-retaining property that makes them an effective laxative.

It's possible that people haven't fully discovered all the healing wonders of water but we all know that water is one of the keys to a healthy stomach. We need water to stay fit and healthy. We also need water to flush out toxins and stubborn wastes that can get stuck in our digestive system sometimes. If you have trouble going all the time, increase your fluid intake. That's at least 8 glasses of water a day.

When you don't get enough exercise and sleep, you lower your body's defenses against stress, and stress according to experts can actually result to a lot of bodily disorders and one of that is indigestion. Always make sure to live a healthy lifestyle of eating properly, exercising regularly and getting enough rest to keep your stomach healthy.
