How to Start a Coleman 129 Kerosene Lamp
- 1). Unscrew the cap at the base of the lamp. Pour the kerosene into the base, and then screw the cap back on.
- 2). Turn the knob on the air stem to the left and place your air pump into the center stem.
- 3). Pump 25 to 30 strokes of air into the stem.
- 4). Reclose the air stem by turning the middle knob to the right.
- 5). Remove the shade and glass protector with your fingers. Use the provided wiring to tie the mantle into the grooves of the burning cap.
- 6). Turn the knob at the top of the lamp to open the lamp. White ash will appear if the lamp has been lit in the past.
- 7). Turn the metal lever, on the air stem, several times to release the air that you pumped into the lamp.
- 8). Pour ¾ cup lighting alcohol into the provided cup, and then light the alcohol with a match.
- 9). Open the air value to light the lamp.
