How to Remove Peanut Butter From the Jar Before Recycling
- 1). Fill your peanut butter jar with hot water once you are sure you can't retrieve anymore peanut butter with a knife, and leave it for five minutes. This will help to loosen the remnants of peanut butter from the walls of the jar which will be sticky and difficult to budge otherwise.
- 2). Shake the jar of peanut butter, ensuring the lid is tightly screwed on. Do this for 10 to 20 seconds and it will remove any large remains of peanut butter from the walls of the jar so that they float in the water for easy disposal.
- 3). Pour the water out of the jar, allowing any of the peanut butter remains to go with it. Rinse the jar with cold water on a high pressure to further remove any peanut butter loosened by the hot water.
- 4). Add a drop of dish washing soap to the peanut butter jar and use a circular scrubbing brush to scrub the insides of the jar, the lip and the lid to remove any stubborn remainders of peanut butter.
- 5). Rinse the jar and lid once again to ensure that no soap or peanut butter remain, and leave to dry before recycling the jar or reusing.
