Ideas for a Wife's 40th Birthday Party
- When your wife turns 40, you want to plan a special party just for her. The age of 40 is a milestone occasion since she is hitting a new decade. When you do plan a party for your wife's 40th birthday, make sure to plan it around her interests and be sure to check the calendar to make sure you choose a date that is open on her busy schedule if you want to surprise her.
- Choose a theme that you know your wife will enjoy. If she enjoys the beach, then throw her a 40th beach party. Alternately, you can center the theme of the party on her favorite movie. Invite guests to dress up if possible; for example, if her favorite movie is "Gone With the Wind," ask guests to dress in Civil War-era-style clothing. Make sure your wife gets to dress up as her favorite character from the movie.
Have food that fits in with the theme. For the beach party, plan to cook out on the grill. For example, serve shrimp marinated in Caribbean Jerk seasoning on skewers. For a "Gone With the Wind" party, serve a rather lavish dinner of roast beef or ham with all the trimmings. - Surprise your wife for her 40th birthday. Ask a couple of your wife's closest friends to help with the planning. Plan to serve her favorite foods. Find some of your wife's old pictures, give them to a friend to enlarge and mount them as party decorations. Have friends made from each decade of her life write out a little something they can read to your wife at the party. Make sure you write out something, too.
Send out invitations for the surprise party at least three weeks in advance. Provide an alternate phone number for RSVPs. Include all of the necessary information as to the time, date and place of the party. Mention several times in the invitation that the party is a surprise. Use bold and all capital letters if necessary.
Plan the party at a location besides your home so all you have to worry about is getting her there on time. - Plan a small celebration for your wife's 40th birthday party if your wife does not like a lot of attention or is not that thrilled about turning 40. Get together with a few of your closest friends and maybe plan a special outing. You can plan a hiking or camping trip, or a mini-vacation to the beach or to the mountains. This may be something you want to plan together. Choose a destination you want to go to with friends, if that is something your wife would enjoy. If you are making reservations for accommodations at the beach or in the mountains, make sure you do this well in advance. Decide if you need to pack food or if you plan on going out to eat. If you decide to cook, plan easy-to-prepare foods so that no one spends a lot of time in the kitchen, especially your wife.
Arrange all outdoor activities ahead of time to make sure everyone can afford the entertainment. Plan ahead for bad weather by bringing board and card games as well as movies.
