How to Change a Whirlpool Dishwasher Filter
- 1). Open the Whirlpool dishwasher door. Lower the door as far as it will go.
- 2). Move the rotating arm so the filtration system can be accessed.
- 3). Rotate the upper filter assembly 1/4-turn counterclockwise to unlock it. The upper filter assembly is the circular device that sits in the large filter screen at the base of the dishwasher.
- 4). Lift the upper filter assembly straight up to remove it.
- 5). Grasp the lower filter assembly inside the opening where the upper assembly was sitting. Lift the lower assembly and pull it toward the front of the dishwasher to remove it.
- 6). Place the new lower filter assembly where the previous filter was positioned. Adjust the filter so the round opening for the upper assembly lines up with the hole in the lower filter.
- 7). Insert the new upper filter assembly into the round opening in the lower filter. Turn the upper filter clockwise until it locks into place.
