Gross Motor - The Platform For Preschool Vision Development

103 14
Gross Motor is defined as using the large muscle groups to sit, stand, walk, run, jump, keep balance, and change direction.
The use of these larger movements means that gross motor movement is the forerunner to other developmental aspects of the preschool child, including fine motor, sequencing, coding, left right awareness, and so on.
The entire process, including gross motor development, is encapsulated by the visual system, so integration between vision and gross motor development is the building block upon which children grow and learn.
The point of these large motor skills is that the kids get to develop using their hands, feet and other large muscle groups, and they get to do it while attempting things they always like doing.
Parent Concerns One of the most common concerns for a parent is whether or not her child is developing normally.
The easiest skills to see and observe is this gross development.
Starting from the familiar order: turning the head from side to side when lying prone, through to balance and coordination, parents are observing and monitoring their children's skills because they are easy to see, and often they comment on their child being "clumsy" with real concern.
However, what most parents do not realize is that gross development is actually providing a platform to future developments in many other areas, all of which can grossly affect your child's learning ability throughout their school life! If they struggle in gross motor development, they may in fact struggle in many other areas as a result.
When an infant is developmentally delayed or neurologically impaired, gross motor skills, as well as other skills, may be delayed and do not develop easily.
When a child's disabilities interfere with their overall gross functioning, the child often does not develop in the sequence of a typically developing child, and will be lacking in coordination, balance, timing, catching, and other gross motor skills.
And it is this lack of gross skills which lays the platform for future lack in many other areas too.
Don't Worry, Help Is At Hand! The great news is that gross motor skills are often easy and fun to train in preschool children, and that this training of these skills can lay the groundwork for all of the other skill development that your preschool child needs to learn effectively.
So, if we can use the right gross motor methods to train preschool vision development, we can stop potential learning disabilities before they take root, and we can accelerate normal preschool development as well.
Gross skills are the starting point to help us develop preschoolers who are able to learn quickly and efficiently in the classroom, throughout their school life.
Building Blocks is a specialized, preschool therapy program that has been designed to start at gross skills and steadily develop a child's visual, motor and cognitive skills, enabling them to learn far more rapidly.
This remarkable program is now available on the internet, so visit our site for further information.
