Pony Bead Craft Ideas

    Melted Pony Bead Magnet

    • Plastic--when heated--is a pliable material, which means you can mold it into almost anything you want. Make a magnet for any occasion with this craft idea from the Cut Out and Keep website. Since melted plastic emits potentially toxic fumes, set up a toaster oven outside on a table in a well-ventilated area, then set it to 400 degrees F. Put tin cookie cutters on a cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil, then fill the center of the cookie cutter with pony beads. Place the beads in the cookie cutter so that the holes face up, then bake the beads for about 20 minutes. Take them out of the oven and let them cool before touching. Then pop them out of the cookie cutter and onto a table. Use fabric paint to decorate your magnet and then add a craft magnet to the back with hot glue.

    Chili Peppers

    • These chili peppers from Kaboose are easy enough for even young children to make. Cut a red pipe cleaner so that it's about 7 inches long, then bend the pipe cleaner in half. Have kids string one red pony bead onto the pipe cleaner and push it into the center. Holding onto the pony bead, kids will twist the pipe cleaner at the center to secure that pony bead. Then string red pony beads on the two ends of the pipe cleaner, leaving about 1/2 inch at the bottom of both ends. Twist the two ends together so none of the beads fall off, then twist a 3-inch green pipe cleaner around the first pony bead (the one that was pushed into the center) for the stem.

    Wreath Ornaments

    • These wreath ornaments from AllFreeCrafts.com are simple to make. Make several at a time to cover your Christmas tree. String pony beads to cover an 8-inch piece of pipe cleaner, then bring the ends of the pipe cleaner together. Either use pony beads that are all the same color or mix multiple colors together. Then twist the two ends together so that none of the beads fall off, and continue to shape the pipe cleaner into a circle. Tie a 1/4-inch piece of ribbon into a bow around the wreath where you brought the ends of the pipe cleaner together.
