How to Unlock an N70 With a USB Cable
- 1). Go online and download a BB5 unlocker software (see Resources). You may see other types of Nokia unlocker software online, but only a BB5 unlocker will work for your N70. As of 2010, you can download it for free.
- 2). Purchase a DKU-5 USB data cable which you will use to connect your N70 with your PC. You can purchase one from an online shop for about $20 as of 2010 (see Resources).
- 3). Charge your phone's battery fully and remove the SIM (subscriber identity module) card by sliding the back casing off, and then carefully detaching the SIM card located underneath your battery.
- 4). Unzip your downloaded BB5 installer, and run the "install.bat" file by double clicking it. To unzip a file, you need a program such as WinZip or WinRar (see Resources).
- 5). Turn your phone on and plug it into your PC using your USB data cable. Go to your PC's "Control Panel" by going to the "Start menu." In the Control Panel, double click the "System" icon and select "Device Manager." Look for the "Ports" tab and look for the "USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM3)."
- 6). Open the program folder of your installed BB5 by going to your "C:/" on "My Computer," then "Programs," and then "BB5_unlocker." Go to "Logs" then open "bb5_unlocker.cfg." Select the "COM port 3."
- 7). Turn your phone off while still connected to your PC. Go to the BB5_unlocker folder again and run the executable file "BB5logunlocker.exe."
- 8). Turn your phone on, and when the Nokia logo appears on the screen, immediately click the "Read Phone" button on the BB5 unlocker window.
- 9). Click "Make Log" on the BB5 unlocker window and an unlock code compatible with your phone will appear. Enter the unlock codes on your N70 using the phone's keypad and press "OK." Your phone will beep, blink and restart. When it comes back on it will be unlocked.
