How to Take the Dash From a 1996 Chevy Cavilier
- 1). Use the flathead screwdriver to remove the cover pieces at both ends, exposing a bolt underneath each cover. Remove the bolt with the socket wrench set.
- 2). Pull the glove box door open and remove three bolts in the rear and remove the glove box.
- 3). Locate the trim plate and the three bolts around the radio and gauges and pop them off with the flathead screwdriver. Remove the trim.
- 4). Locate two brass bolts at the rear of the glove box. The dashboard is now loose and you can remove it. Begin at the glove box and, using your hands, carefully remove it from the car. Unsnap the eight clips along the edge by hand. If necessary you can use the flathead screwdriver.
- 5). Slide the dash from the Cavalier out the passenger's side door.
