How to Make Boutonnieres out of Greenery
- 1). Select the greenery you want to use. You might choose based on an established color scheme for the event or the color of a partner's outfit. Boutonnieres generally measure no larger than two inches wide by four inches tall.
- 2). Hold the selection in a small bouquet. Select simpler or longer pieces of greenery for the back of the boutonniere and smaller, more ornate pieces to showcase in the front.
- 3). Remove all leaves to have a stem of two inches below the base of the greenery bouquet.
- 4). Wrap the stem with thin floral wire, starting at the base of the bouquet. Pinch the wire at the end of the stem to fold back into the stem instead of springing out.
- 5). Wrap the floral tape around the stem, starting at the base of the bouquet, pinching the top and bottom in place and lightly stretching the tape as you wrap.
- 6). Store in a cool place or refrigerate the arrangement to keep it fresh until you are ready to wear it. Fasten with a boutonniere pin along the back of boutonniere.
