How do I Record a VHS Tape to a Computer Disk?
- 1). Plug the video adapter into the computer's USB port. Run the male-to-male RCA cable from the red, white and yellow output jacks on the VCR to the same-colored input jacks on the video adapter. Power on the VCR, and load the VHS cassette you want to record.
- 2). Start the video capture software on your computer. Input your desired capture settings (file format, resolution, etc.)
- 3). Click the "Start Capture" button on the video capture software. Then press the Play button on the VCR. You will see the video output appear in the preview window of the capture software.
- 4). Wait until the video you want to capture has finished, then stop the capture software. Either burn the digital file directly to disk, or use CD/DVD burning software to create a disk you can watch in a DVD player.
- 1). Load a blank DVD-R in the DVD recorder. Run the male-to-male RCA cable from the red, white and yellow output jacks on the VCR to the same-colored input jacks on the DVD recorder. Power on the VCR, and load the VHS tape you want to record. Be sure the DVD recorder output is connected to a video monitor, and turn the monitor on.
- 2). Push the Record button on the DVD recorder, then press Play on the VCR. In a few seconds you'll be able to see the video in the monitor.
- 3). Wait until the video you wish to record has played, then press the Stop button on the DVD recorder. Eject and label the recorded DVD.
- 1). Turn the TV on, and place the VHS tape to be recorded in the cassette opening. Place a blank DVD-R disk in the disk drive.
- 2). Press the DVD button on the VCR/DVD deck's remote control. Then press the Record Mode/Speed button until the recording speed you want ("SP, "LP, "SLP" or "XP") appears on the video monitor.
- 3). Set the deck to VCR mode by pressing the VCR button on the remote. Confirm that the VCR indicator light on the deck lights up. Press the Dubbing button on the remote, and use the arrow keys to confirm that you wish to dub the VCR to DVD on the video screen. The deck will begin dubbing, and you will see the video on the screen.
- 4). When you have recorded the portion of the VHS tape you want, press the Stop button on the remote. Remove and label the recorded DVD.
