How to Connect HD DirecTV to Another TV
- 1). Power down both the HD DirecTV receiver and the HDTV currently connected to it. Although it is unlikely, there is a slight risk of shocking yourself when inserting and removing cables from the television and receiver.
- 2). Remove the HDMI cable running from the HDTV to the HD DirecTV receiver.
- 3). Insert an HDMI splitter into the HDMI port on the DirecTV receiver. This is where the HDMI cable to the HDTV had been connected. This splitter is going to have multiple HDMI "Out" ports on it. Depending on what splitter you have, it is either going to be a brick-shaped, or it could look more like a hand, with several outstretching HDMI ports connected to a central base.
- 4). Plug the HDMI cable running from the original HDTV back into the HDMI port on the HDTV. Connect the other end of the cable into one of the available HDMI "Out" ports on the splitter.
- 5). Connect a second HDMI cable into a different "Out" port on the splitter. Plug the other end of this cable into the "HDMI" port on the second television. Repeat this process with any other HDTVs you want to connect to the HD DirecTV receiver.
