It's not just your dad's game anymore: golf is becoming an increasingly popular sport among kids. The chance to be outdoors, the combination of athleticism and concentration, and the fact that almost anyone can learn to play golf---no matter their fitness level---has growing appeal for kids. Most Missouri camps are located within a two-hour drive of St. Louis. Costs vary considerably, depending on the child's age and type of camp. - Kanakuk Golf Kamp is designed for kids who are serious about improving their golfing skills. Campers golf on the famous Branson Creek course and at several other courses in the Ozarks. The camp involves one-on-one training daily, but campers also have the chance to participate in recreation such as waterslides and kayaking. Kanakuk is a highly regarded chain of camps. Thirteen day camps run June through August.

kanakuk.com - The PGA offers week-long, supervised sessions for golfers of all abilities from ages 6 through 19 at two sites: Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Range and Gateway Golf Center. Instruction lasts for several hours each day and includes classroom sessions, full swing and short game instruction, etiquette and rules of the game. There is a maximum of 18 students per class and an instructor to student ratio of 1:6.

The camp is located 75 miles south of St. Louis on a 5,200 acre woodland featuring a large private lake. The camp offers one- and two-week sessions throughout the summer. Kids can chose to focus on golf or combine it with other activities such as the Ranger Program, Leadership Development Program, horsemanship, lake sports, arts and crafts, archery, tennis, caving and climbing, among others.

ymcaoftheozarks.org - FCA is a nationwide organization that combines camping with Christian studies. Their Missouri camp, located in Lake of the Ozarks, focuses on improving golf skills in a Christian environment and uses the Osage National course. The one-week camp is for 12- to 18-year-olds with some golf experience. Instruction includes group and one-on-one golf instruction, small-group discussions about golf, morning and evening chapel programs and recreation.
