ATV Riding Parks in Wayne National Forest of Ohio

Wayne National Forest, the only national forest in Ohio, is located in the southeastern part of the state. With more than 300 miles of trails, there are plenty of places to ride ATVs in the park. There are three specific trails systems in the park. - Monday Creek Trail System is north of Nelsonville and can be accessed from several roadways: Highway 595, Hwy. 33, County Road 24 and Hwy. 78. This heavily-used system consists of 71 miles of trails set up for ATVs, off-road motorcycles (OHMs), and mountain bikes. Hikers also use these trails so riders must watch out for pedestrians. This trail system is operated by the Athens Ranger District.

740-753-0101 - Hanging Rock Trail System consists of 24 miles of trails winding through 5,000 acres of old strip-mined land. The terrain has some steep slopes as well as an abundance of fishing ponds. Like Monday Creek, this trail system is also used for ATVs, OHMs, mountain bikes and hikers. Note that only those trails that are marked with orange diamonds are for ATV use. This trail system is operated by the Ironton Ranger District. The Hanging Rock Trail System can be access from Hwy. 650, which is off Hwy. 52.

740-534-6500 - Seventeen miles of trails await riders and hikers in the Pine Creek Trail System. The trails, located north of Ironton, can be accessed from several roads: Hwy. 93, County Road 2; and Hwy. 522 West. Like Hanging Rock, this trail system is operated by the Ironton Ranger District.
- Vehicles on all the trail systems are restricted to 50 inches in width. All the trail systems require riders of both ATVs and OHMs to have a Wayne National Forest Trail Permit. Permits can be purchased by the day, for three days, or by the season.
