DIY Natural Shaving Cream
Skip using water and soap or chemical filled shaving creams to shave by making your own natural shaving cream using shea butter, coconut oil and sweet almond oil that is perfect for him or her. The natural oils and butters in this recipe not only help to provide a close shave without any razor burn, but also help to moisture your body as well leaving skin silky soft and smooth.
What You Will Need:
- 2/3 cup of shea butter or cocoa butter
- 2/3 cup of solid coconut oil (refined or unrefined)
- 1/4 cup of sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, or liquid coconut oil
- 10 drops of essential oil either lavender, chamomile, sandalwood, peppermint, or rosemary (optional)
- Resealable container
How To Make Shaving Cream:
- In a double boiler over low heat combine 2/3 cup of shea or cocoa butter with 2/3 cup of solid coconut oil. Once melted remove from heat and pour into a tempered glass bowl or any other heat resistant container and place the container into the refrigerator.
- Once the butter and oil in the bowl has hardened remove from the refrigerator and add 1/4 sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or liquid coconut oil and if desired your choice of essential oil to the shaving cream mixture to give a scent to the shaving cream.
- Using an electric mixer combine everything together at a low speed, and than increase the speed to whip the mixture until light and fluffy.
- Transfer the mixture into a resealable glass container and store in a cool, dry area until using to shave.
