Wolfpack Unleashed - Anthems Of Resistance
About.com Rating
When first listening to this CD, you might think it is a band from the Bay Area circa the 1980s. In reality, it's the debut from the Austrian group Wolfpack Unleashed, who unleash the old school thrash.
Anthems Of Resistance is fast and furious with a dual guitar attack from Karl Preininger and the strangely named Wops Koch. The songs are groovy, and can also get pretty heavy. The band's influences are early thrash bands like Megadeth, Testament and Metallica.
Vocalist Gunther Wirth sounds a lot like James Hetfield from Metallica when he's singing melodically. He's off key once in a while, but does a solid job. He also adds in some death metal growls which makes things that much more extreme. Anthems Of Resistance will appeal to thrash fans old and new.
