SEC Army Travel Policy
- The Department of Defense maintains that army travel should be used efficiently and only for official business. Policy also strictly dictates that government transportation funds are not to be used because it is easier for the employee.
- Many ceremonies only provide travel for officers or official representatives. Individual travel must be prearranged with a superior or taken care of separately. It is important to establish what policies an individual needs to follow by consulting with a superior officer.
- Spouses are an exception to many of these rules. Army spouses are required to have their own itinerary and cannot take the spot of another army employee. If a spouse is traveling to an official event, she also needs to be participating in said event.
