How to Record an SVHS Tape
- 1). Hook up your S-VHS player/recorder to your television. To do so, hook your television signal to your television through the recorder. This means your television signal (usually cable) should be plugged into the "Input" on your S-VHS player. From there, plug audio/video cables from the "Output" of your S-VHS player into the "Input" on your television. This final step is to allow you to view what you are recording on your television.
- 2). Turn on the S-VHS recorder/player. This will allow the signal from the cable to go through the recorder and into the television.
- 3). View the signal through the television. Depending on the television and S-VHS recorder you are using, you will either need to change the television's channel to "Ch. 3" or "Input." When you turn it to the correct channel, you will be able to see the channel being broadcast through the recorder.
- 4). Press "Record" on the S-VHS recorder when what you want to record is being broadcast on the television. You may wish to program a pre-set recording into your S-VHS recorder if you are not at home to manually set the recording. When it is complete, press "Stop" to complete the recording. The S-VHS tape will now contain the recording, which you can play back on an S-VHS or VHS recorder/player.
