How to Do a Seated Partner Yoga Back Walk
- 1). Instruct the receiver to sit comfortably on the floor. He can sit cross legged, knees bent or legs straight out. He should do whatever is most comfortable. If sitting up straight is hard for him, he can sit on a small pillow to raise the hips higher than the knees.
- 2). Sit behind him. Have the receiver reach his arms back. Grasp his wrists.
- 3). Place the soles of your feet on the back of the receiver. To avoid injury, never place your feet right on any bones or vertebra.
- 4). Very gently start to "walk" up and down the receiver's back. Let the receiver tell you how much pressure feels good.
- 5). Apply pressure from the lower back up to underneath the shoulder blades. It may take a bit of practice to get your balance. Go up and down a few times.
- 6). Try to coordinate your breathing. Both partners should focus on relaxing. Release out slowly and with control.
- 7). Switch places. Repeat Steps 1 to 6. Change the roles you were in before. Become the receiver this time.
