The Bosox have lost 7 of their last 10 MLB Picks and Sunday night the team left for the west coast t to face the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels. The Red Sox troubles are no laughing matter as the offense looked terrible in their last series against the Texas Rangers, they were outscored 21-11 and that is just not Boston baseball, this is a franchise that thrives on hitting the baseball. The performance against the Rangers was totally unacceptable, it doesn't matter that they faced Cliff Lee, as a matter of fact they beat Lee. What matters is that they want to stay in striking distance of the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

That process starts this week with Clay Buchholz (10-4) who was named to the All-Star team but has been on the disabled list since July 5 with a strained left hamstring is set to pitch Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series at Oakland. Josh Beckett, who began the season as Boston's # 1 starter, went on the disabled list May 19th due to a lower back strain and is just 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in eight starts in 2010.
Beckett is expected to return Friday for the second of four games in Seattle if all goes well during an extended bullpen session on Tuesday July 20th, Beckett didn't fare to well on Saturday night July 17th during a rehabilitation start in Pawtucket, he allowed 3 runs in 4 innings. Red Sox fans are getting restless and this sports handicapper believes the team may have to make a move they may not want to make by the trade deadline on July 31st.
