How to Organize Credit Card Account Numbers
- 1). Gather all of your most recent credit card statements. Your statement is the document that accompanies your monthly bill. If you cannot find your most recent statement, wait until your new statement arrives in the mail before starting the organization process.
- 2). Assign one manila folder to each credit card account. Write the name or issuer of the card on the outside folder tab along with the account number. Placing the account number on the outer tab will be especially helpful if you have more than one credit card issued by the same company, such as two Visa cards.
- 3). Organize the folders in ascending order according to number, or alphabetically according to the issuing company's name. Use whichever method you find to be most practical. Place your organized stack of folders into a file drawer or box for safekeeping.
- 4). Place your credit card statements in the appropriate folder when they arrive each month. You can also place additional account information into your folders such as online account user names and passwords.
