Google Green Tech Generosity - Giant Wind Power Project

103 10
We all know that the future of technology will rely on green power.
More and more companies are converting to green power sources; some of the greatest companies like Google have already moved almost all of their assets to green power.
Facebook has announced their turning green campaign and has already converted over 20% of their assets.
But now Google announced an even bigger step, a gesture of generosity.
Google is landing a hand in financing one third of the massive giant Mid Atlantic wind power project.
We are talking about a project that will be able to generate over 6,000 megawatts of power and the initial estimates of that project sound more than promising.
Once completed the estimates given by NERL state that the power produced can be 4 times larger than the current power use in the United States.
In other words, Google's investment alone would be enough to power US power need.
Well this is all based on the initial analysis.
The wind powered turbine will cover the area of 350 miles along the west coast and in the beginning it will power only surrounding areas.
But this is just the initial phase of the project that will after that turn to expanding and providing clean renewable energy for the entire North American continent.
The plans for this project are not complete, but construction is already scheduled to begin in 2013 with the hopes of starting to transmit power in 2016.
Although NERL's estimates are optimistic, the real estimates they later gave are much less promising.
We are talking about the fact that the wind power gathered will be able to account for 20% of the US power use initially, but the goal and the possibilities given by the wind power on the west coast do amount to 4 times larger power source than current usage in the US.
