Natural Detox Advice - Should You Detox Your Body?
In general terms, detoxification means to remove toxins from the body’s bloodstream. To understand how the detox process can be done, we must first explain how the body cleanses itself. The liver is important as it keeps the body clean by denying toxins into the bloodstream, but some do get through. Unfortunately, there are toxins we are exposed to over time, and they wear down the protective system.
In addition to unhealthy diets that seem to be taking over as a result of busy lifestyles, we also are exposed to toxins at our work offices, homes and even pollutants from the air we breathe in. They are hard to avoid. There are other contributors, such as alcohol, illness, disease, tobacco, drugs, and overeating.
But how do we fix the problem? A natural way is to modify our diet to include fiber-rich foods as well as plentiful amounts of water. There also are herbal remedies, and even colon hydrotherapy, or irrigation, to get rid of the toxins that tend to build up on the colon walls. Since the colon acts as the body’s sewer in getting rid of its waste, colon cleansing has gotten a lot of attention as a way to obtain a healthier body overall and possibly receive some beneficial side effects of that practice.
Detox is often associated with eliminating alcohol and drugs from the systems of those dependent on them, but our bodies can go through a detox to simply become healthier. There also has been recent popularity of colon cleansing and possible links between weight gain and toxic buildup. Also, total body detoxification programs have become parts of weight loss regimens as of lately.
