You can't wait for inspiration to strike forever so here are some ideas that might get the juices flowing.
How about a damsel in distress (well, you don't have to be distressed but you know what I mean) and a medieval knight.
A damsel might wear a Renaissance style costume.
This can be a very sexy look, with the off the shoulder peasant top and figure hugging corset or it could be an elegant dress akin to the thing Cinderella might wear.
Both costumes are sure to make an impression.
The dashing knight can get as armored up as he likes.
Knights didn't wear armor all the time so you get just as easily pass off as a knight in a simple tunic and chain mail look.
Make sure you wear a helmet and bring along your shield and sword.
The shield and sword are not essential but they make a good first impression and the sword comes in handy for fighting off any pirates that might be around.
Another unique idea that has an oriental theme is to go as a Samurai and Geisha.
These are two of the most iconic costumes from a part of Japanese culture that has all but died out.
A samurai is a Japanese knight in effect and can also be as elaborate or comfortable as you want.
The geisha, whilst not exactly a princess, certainly looks like a princess.
The key to looking like a Geisha is the make up and hair but again, if you can't be bothered to go to that sort of trouble simply wearing a  in a kimono and obi will work at any party.
A Samurai and Geisha couple would make a striking impression at any party, Halloween or otherwise.
