How to Get Rid of Cooking Meat Smells
- 1). Ventilate the cooking area. Open windows and outside doors. Turn on your exhaust fan, or use a window fan that blows the air outdoors. Note that if rooms were closed off during cooking, such as bedrooms, do not open the doors. Otherwise the odors may affect those areas as well.
- 2). Clean the grease on and around your stove. The grease from cooking the meats may be the source of the lingering smell. Use a kitchen cleaner labeled to cut grease and use a sponge with a rough side to clean. Concentrate on burners, the back splash or wall above the stove, and on the stove's exhaust fan. If you have a microwave or cabinet above the stove, the underside may be quite greasy as well.
- 3). Boil a pot filled with 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup water. Let it simmer for an hour or more to get rid of the cooked meat smells.
- 4). Place little dishes of vanilla, vinegar or baking soda throughout your home where the cooked meat smells are lingering. These items absorb cooking odors, including meats, and will help get rid of the smell.
