How to Repair Your Credit on Your Own

103 13
It is never too late to repair your credit.
Repairing credit is especially important if you are planning to borrow money and/or buy insurance.
A high credit score can lower your interest rate which will eventually lead to a lower monthly payment on your loan.
The first thing to do is make sure you are not more than thirty days late on any revolving credit that you currently have; items such as secure loans and credit cards are examples of revolving credit.
Being more than thirty days late will dramatically change your score for the worst! Second, you should lower the balance on any accounts that you currently have open.
If you have any credit cards that are nearing the high limit, fix it.
If you do not fix it your score will be greatly reduced.
Balances are one of the most important factors that are used to calculate your credit score.
Make sure you pay down these balances as soon as possible, if possible, and your score will be raised in the process.
Last, dispute negative collection accounts on your report.
If you dispute the accounts and get them deleted from your report you will dramatically improve your credit rating.
You are entitled to one free credit report a year by going to annualcreditreport dot com.
Do not be afraid to challenge a collection account it is your right according to the law.
If you are not going to look out for your credit and/or finances, who will?
