Troubleshooting a Kenmore Side-by-Side Refrigerator
- 1). The refrigerator must be connected to a functioning power supply. If the refrigerator is not on, check that the appliance is plugged in and that a circuit breaker has not been tripped. Reset the circuit breaker, if necessary.
- 2). Keep the appliance's doors closed for a few hours if the internal temperature seems too warm or the motor seems to be overworked. Turn the thermostat to a lower temperature if the problem does not resolve itself after a few hours.
- 3). Adjust the thermostat to a warmer temperature if items inside the refrigerator are frozen or items in the freezer develop too much frost on the exterior.
- 4). Reset shelves and bins if the door(s) will not shut. Wipe down the door gaskets to remove dirt or debris that might be preventing proper suction when the door is closed.
- 5). Throw away ice cubes with an odd odor or taste. Clean the ice bin and create a new batch of ice. Close food items tightly to prevent odors from tainting the ice.
- 6). The ice maker must be turned on if there is no ice being produced. Remove ice cubes that might be stuck in the ice cube dispenser with your fingers or a plastic utensil.
