Choosing the Right Lighting for Camping

103 50
There are a few different kinds of lighting to choose from.
Fuel-burning lanterns, electric lights, battery operated lanterns, LED flashlights and headlights are all good choices.
What your plans are will determine the kind of lighting you will need.
Some campgrounds have an electric outlet for you to use at the campsite.
But for camping I recommend a different source of lighting such as a flashlight, camping lantern or headlamp.
Fuel burning lanterns are great for camping.
There are a lot of choices of lanterns.
Some burn on liquid gas such as white gas (Coleman fuel) or auto gas.
Some lanterns burn on a canister of butane.
These camping lanterns are very fuel efficient and produce nice bright light.
If you use this type of lantern, be sure to keep it out of children's reach as the exterior of the lantern gets quite hot.
It might be a good idea to bring an extra wick.
It is not safe to bring a fuel burning camping lantern inside of a tent.
Battery operated lanterns are good as well.
They don't give bright light like the fuel burning camping lanterns, but the can be safely brought into the tent and are safe to use around children.
Remember that the brighter this lantern burns, the more energy it uses, giving you a shorter battery life.
So do bring extra batteries.
LED Flashlights are a must for camping.
Even the headlamps work great.
If you have children each one should have his own flashlight or headlamp.
Just don't forget the extra batteries.
LED flashlights give you a brighter light.
Where I go camping I use a fuel burning camping lantern and bring LED flashlights as well.
I bring a flashlight for each person coming on the campout.
