Car Stereo Removal in a 1993 Honda Accord
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable, and then pull it away from the terminal to isolate it. This prevents incidental contact with the battery.
- 2). Set the parking brake to allow room to remove the center console. Remove the two Phillips-head screws from each side of the console. Lift the rear part of the console up and push it forward to slide it over the parking-brake lever and gearshift knob.
- 3). Open the ashtray. Push down the metal tab in the rear part of the ashtray; pull outward to release the ashtray from its bracket. On the bracket, you'll see three Phillips-head screws. Remove them, and then pull the bracket out.
- 4). Loosen the two bolts (8mm) that secure the lower part of the radio to the dash--it's not necessary to remove them. These bolts are mounted vertically; look up into the cavity to find them.
- 5). Pull the stereo, and the compartment attached to it, out of the dash. Unplug the cable and wiring adapter from the stereo's rear.
