Apply

• 1). Open you Internet's web browser and go to Indeed.com, Bestjobsus.com or another job posting website. In the "what" box type loss prevention and in the "where" box enter the location that you are searching for a position---this can be city, county, state or nationwide.
  
  
• 2). View job postings, and decide which positions you are qualified for and would like to apply to.
  
  
• 3). Tailor your resume to match the keywords and job duties in each individual job description.
  
  
• 4). Follow the application process for each position and submit your tailored resume.
  
  
• 5). Keep a log of all of the positions that you have applied for so that you have a reference when an employer responds to your resume.
  
  

Get an Education

• 1). Open your Internet's web browser and go to the search engine of your choice. Type "criminal justice program." To view schools in your area, type your city and state into the search engine after "criminal justice." A degree in criminal justice is not always required for a loss prevention position, but it will increase your potential to obtain a position in this field.
  
  
• 2). View all criminal justice programs through private college, community college, universities or online programs. Decide which program you would like to pursue.
  
  
• 3). Follow the application process for your program of interest. You will need to obtain any transcripts from previous schools that you attended, and you may need one or more letters of reference.
  
  
• 4). Once school is completed, start applying for loss prevention agent positions. Make sure to highlight your degree or certificate in criminal justice on your resume.
