Violence In Video Games - Inside Synopsis From An Ex Employee Of Rockstar Games
Disclaimer I'm not affiliated with rockstar games anymore, nor are any of the views herein anyway views of rockstar or it's affliates.
Firstly I'd like to set out the foundation of this article so you can appreciate the context it's written in, bear with me here if you will.
I'm neither for or against violence in video games, and the context of this article is for you to make up your own mind.
Every argument has valid points and counter-points, and the only way to gain a greater understanding is to analyse all available data and form your own conclusions.
Societies current stand-point - The basics Video-games are violent, video-games are bad.
Based on a moral-viewpoint you could suppose this to be true, but we must also take into account the fact that violence is generally perpurtrated by males and violence is an inbuilt survival mode of adaptation.
In that men are naturally violent as a mode of self-survival from predators, this should be fairly apparent to anyone, but the logical conclusion is A:) Most video games are made by males ( I should know), and played by males.
B:) Hence most games will be violent, and are, C:) Most games teach skills of self-defense, power games, basic survival instincts, Protect your family and ( your dna-line ) etc, but is there anything inherently wrong with this? after all our natural violent instincts have gotten us where we are today.
I would like to at this point redefine violence into further distinctions, natural survival violence, and shadow violence.
Natural violence is apparent, and shouldn't need any further discussion.
Eliminating the violence gene isn't going to happen anytime soon, and if it did what would be the consequences? The Facts If you look at sales of GTA San-Andreas you'll find them in the region of 25 million copies sold world-wide.
The number of GTA san-andreas violent related incidents, if there was any basis here which is unfounded, let's take a wild exageration and say 100.
100 incidents ( an exaggeration anyway ) could have been caused out of 25 million scenarios, which is ludicrous and hardly purports any further inquiries, If the figures were closer to 10000 / 25,000,000, there would be a small case for investigation.
But the numbers ( cold facts ) prove that computer games have no relation to ( serious violent incidents ).
It is possible games make people more violent, but I would like to put the opposing point that games in fact reduce violence as a poor form of shadow expression.
I'm sure in psychological terms repression is the worst form of mental defense.
Repressing violent desires Have you ever wondered why the news is full of murders, rapes and natural disasters? it's hardly an objective or even accurate view on the real world.
Plenty of good things happen all the time, yet people don't won't to read about that.
The truth is people have a psychological need to read about death, murders etc basically anything that is prohibited in society.
My point is people need the news, violent video games, violent movies to express their repressed desires, pornography could also come under this category.
The question is without this outlet what would be the consequences? To the future As our world becomes better, safer, our media becomes more and more violent, as directly proportionate.
You can observe this for yourself, by looking back over the last four decades.
And over the next, games, movies, and other media will get worse to compensate.
Is this the best solution we can come up with, I pose this question to you? My own solution I've just finished a game, which deals with shadow projection and the meaning of war.
It's hopefully gives the player more insight into these issues If your interested you can get itfrom the following address [http://www.

com] Conclusion I hope I posed some questions? and thanks for reading.
