Steve arrives at Bo’s house, suggesting they go grab a beer. Bo states that it’s 11 a.m. and he had too much to drink last night. He laments opening his mouth and involving Steve in his mess. Steve reminds Bo that he’s his best friend and he did the right thing by opening up. “I’m here to tell you you did the right thing,” Steve assures him, pointing out Victor’s fragile state and his belief in Philip’s innocence.

Bo isn’t so sure that Philip’s innocent and believes there’s a good possibility he killed a man. Bo fears he could lose everything, including his badge and Hope for destroying evidence.

Bo later explains how Hope already has her suspicions. He recalls how he and Hope made a pact not to keep secrets from each other, but insists he that can’t let her get involved in this. Steve wonders if he really believes Philip killed “that dude.” Bo hopes not and mentions how the police already found Paul’s jacket in the river and could find other evidence as well. Steve offers to see what he can dig up on Paul in order to prove Philip’s innocence. Bo laments lying to Hope. Steve understands why he wants to protect Hope, but warns him that secrets have a way of coming back and biting him. Bo doesn’t see how he can go through with the surprise for Hope and insists that he needs to call it off.

Kayla opens her door to Caroline, who brings a gift bag for her grandson and questions where the proud papa is.

“He went out,” replies Kayla. Caroline expresses her concern for Bo, remarking how strangely he’s been acting. Kayla relays how Marlena said the same thing. Caroline shares how Daniel told her that Victor’s heart rate monitor had a severe reaction when Bo and Philip visited their father. She gets upset as she reveals that Daniel decided not to allow any visitors, including her. She senses some kind of tension between Bo and Victor, but she can’t put her finger on it, recalling how Victor struggled to say the words, “Tell Bo that I said ‘thank you.’” “Thank you for what?” questions Kayla. Caroline doesn’t know and didn’t push it. She asked Bo about it, who said he was just worried about losing another father. She suspects it has something to do with the Hollingsworth case, recalling how disturbed Bo was when he got the call about Paul’s jacket being found in the river. Kayla wonders what Hope has said about all of this. Caroline says Hope is sure that Bo’s behavior is all about Paul and is upset that Bo won’t talk to her. Kayla reveals that she sent Steve over to talk to Bo last night, but she hasn’t had a chance to talk to Steve about it. She mentions Ava and admits that she lost it when she thought Ava was going to move in across the hall. She then brings up Stephanie and is happy she’s helping Max search for his sister, but wishes she was there. They both pray that Bo will come to his senses.

Steve soon arrives home and happily greets his mother-in-law. He wonders if he’s interrupting something. Kayla claims that Caroline just came by to see the baby and is also concerned about Bo. Steve claims that Bo told him nothing they need to be concerned about. Caroline expresses how worried she is about Bo. Kayla adds how Hope thinks Bo is keeping a secret. “And we both know how bad secrets are,” she implies. Caroline proceeds to go talk to Bo. Kayla insists on coming with her, snarking how maybe they’ll get some real answers.

Caroline and Kayla later arrive at Bo’s house to talk to him. Kayla brings up Steve’s visit. Caroline goes upstairs to see Ciara so Bo and Kayla can talk. Bo insists to Kayla that he’s fine and brings up the little surprise he had planned for Hope, claiming he’s calling it off because the timing’s not good. Kayla insists that there’s nothing more important than his wife and his marriage. She proceeds to go home and urges him not to cancel his surprise. Caroline backs Kayla up on this.

Bo later asks Caroline how Ciara’s doing. Caroline says she’s playing with her dolls. He asks if she stopped by to see Victor. Caroline reminds him that Daniel said no visitors, rehashing how Victor’s blood pressure went through the roof after his and Philip’s visit. Bo believes Daniel has it in for him because he doesn’t approve of the doctor dating his daughter. Caroline expresses how Daniel and everyone else is concerned about him. Bo claims it’s just work related. Caroline urges him to talk to Hope and not keep secrets. She changes the subject to Hope’s surprise. Bo assures her that it’s going on as planned.

Kate and Philip have breakfast together at the Kiriakis mansion, where she notes that he doesn’t look like he slept much last night. “Can you blame me?” he retorts. Kate remarks how she’s not getting much sleep with one son in prison and the other one almost headed that way if she and Victor hadn’t intervened. Philip reminds her that Bo’s the one who put his neck out on the line. Kate affirms that Bo did what he had to do for his family. Philip shares how Bo actually thinks he might’ve killed Paul. “Well he may not be the only one,” she implies. “Thanks Mom. Just what I needed to hear,” he quips. Kate tells him to relax, reminding him that the recording has been destroyed and there’s no way he can be linked to Paul’s disappearance. Philip asks what happened to believing in his innocence. Kate states that she believes he did what he thought was necessary. “But I didn’t do anything!” he exclaims. He worries about Bo going down for protecting him. Henderson then brings an envelope to Philip, revealing that he found it on the front doorstep. Philip opens the envelope and Kate reads the note aloud, which says, “I know your secret.” A daunted Philip flashes back to Bo confronting him about the recording. He surmises that John Black is out to get him and vows to put a stop to it.

Kate later burns the threatening note and vows that if John or anyone else threatens her son, it will be the last thing they do.
