Vista Media Center Won't Record Live TV
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs," then "Windows Media Center." This opens the Windows Media Center on your computer.
- 2). Scroll to "Tasks," then select "Settings."
- 3). Choose "General," then "Windows Media Center Setup," and select "Run Setup Again." You now have the necessary setup options for Windows Media Center.
- 1). Scroll to TV + Movies of the Windows Media Center's start screen. Click "Recorded TV," "View Scheduled," then "History."
- 2). Click "Sort By Date, Sort By Status," to organize the TV list. You can also click "Sort By Title."
- 3). Scroll through the TV list by using the arrow buttons you see on the screen. Each show has a status next to the title, such as Bad Tuner, Deleted, Canceled, Partial, Preempted, Recorded or Not Recorded.
- 4). Click each show title for details on why the status displays Not Recorded. Reasons may include your disk drive ran out of space while recording, the TV signal became disconnected, your computer lost power during the recording, you shut your computer down, or the latest guide listings for the recording were not downloaded.
- 1). Scroll to Tasks, then click "Settings," "TV," "Guide," and "Edit Channels" on the Start screen.
- 2). Scroll through the TV list with the screen's arrow buttons and look for the channels you want to show as well as the ones you want to hide.
- 3). Click your desired channels, which will appear in the inset window, then select the check box by each channel you want to show. You will see the channel appear in the guide each time you select a check box. When you clear a check box, the channel will not appear.
- 4). Click "Save," which returns you to the Guide settings screen. You now have your desired channels showing in the Guide, which allows you to set the TV for recording.
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs," then "Windows Media Center."
- 2). Scroll to TV + Movies on the start screen in the Windows Media Center, Then click "Recorded TV."
- 3). Select and click the TV show you want deleted. Click "Delete" on the Program Info screen, then click "Yes" when prompted to confirm the deletion. When the hard disk space becomes full, Vista Media Center cannot record TV shows, unless you already selected "Until Space Needed" from the recording options. Manually deleting the files will provide room on your hard disk to record new TV shows.
